BSB: Guintoli back for Mallory Park

...but only to cheer on stand-in rider Tommy Hill

SYLVAIN GUINTOLI is going to make his return to BSB this weekend at Mallory Park - in a 'cheer on Tommy Hill' role.

The injured Frenchman may be hobbling around on crutches after his coming together with Josh Brookes at Donington a couple of months ago but he's making the effort to get along to the Leicestershire track to support the Worx Crescent Suzuki team and its new stand-in rider Tommy Hill.

Hill is replacing Michael Rutter in the squad who was dropped from the line-up after a string of dissapointing results over the last three rounds.

Hill though can't wait to get back out on a BSB bike for the first time in two years. He said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me. Already, from the test and since then through our daily conversations, I’ve been blown away by just how enthusiastic the team is. They are so keen to keep moving forwards, to try new things and to develop. It’s a great environment to be in.

“I’ve also been overwhelmed with the response to the announcement of my riding with the team – a big thank you to all the well wishers. For sure I’ll be looking for a strong finish and a good result.”

Team Manager, Jack Valentine, added: “It’s obviously a good feeling to be able to offer a young rider the opportunity to race with the team. And as Tommy’s had a tough time of it over the past two seasons with injuries and then with a very difficult start to this season, hopefully he can take what we can offer him and show exactly what he’s capable of.

“It won’t be easy for him, he’ll be coming from riding some of the fastest and most flowing tracks from around the world onto the shortest most stop-start circuit in the BSB calendar. As ever, we have to be realistic and allow him a reasonable period of adjustment, so the likelihood is we won’t see the best from Tommy until the races. However, we’re very hopeful of some good results as Tommy has already impressed us with his incredibly positive outlook and his keeness to get on.”
