Which new model will Honda reveal at AIM Expo 2019?

Autumn is going to be a very busy period for Honda as it prepares to hit ‘motorshow season’ hard by revealing it will launch a new model at the 2019 AIMExpo in Oho, United States.

The American Industrial Motorcycle Expo kicks off on September 28 and is considered the most important trade show in the United States, with all big manufacturers in attendance, many of which will be showing off their newly announced 2020 line-ups.

Honda is no exception with the Gold Wing, Africa Twin, CBR1000R, CB650R, NC750X, CBR650F, CB500F, CB500X, Rebel 500 and CRF540L all showing off some shiny metal under the spotlight and a spinning floor.

More excitingly, however, the press release also says there will be the North American debut of a ‘new model’, without giving any other details as to what it may be…

What’s new from Honda for 2020?

So, from those short words, Honda says this is a model that hasn’t been seen before in North America, which means it could be something as simple as a limited edition, not least because 2019 is – of course – the brand’s 60th anniversary.

That said, Honda has been rife with speculation over new models for some weeks now, but in a North American context the Honda X-ADV – already a huge success in Europe – could be finally going Stateside.

Indeed, there does seem to be a more concerted push towards developing a global ADV range following the confirmation of an ADV 150 for sale in Indonesia – where demand is already out-stripping supply – and the probability of a following European-only ADV 300, tipped to be launched at EICMA in November.

Alternatively, there is the Honda CBR300RR, which was filling headlines only last week, as a potentially sportier, more potent rendition of the Honda CBR300R, while we have also recently discussed the possibility of a new range in the silhouette of the China-only Honda CBF190TR, a mini-scrambler that we suspect has a global future.

Counting against these models getting an Ohio debut is the fact EICMA and the Tokyo Motorshow in October is expected to be the scene for the bigger announcements coming from Honda.

Then again, we are expecting that 2020 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade to take centre stage on home ground…
