New Bikes

Two weeks to new Ducati Monster

But what is it?

DUCATI is teasing a new Monster that will be unveiled on October 20 in Sepang, the Thursday before the MotoGP race.

But exactly where it will fit in the range is unknown. From the look of the teaser website at the shape under the cover is much the same as a normal Monster 696 or 796, except for what looks like the addition of a fly screen. Of course, that picture might not even really be the bike that will be revealed on the 20th.

The location is also interesting. Is the reveal in Malaysia because the new Monster will be aimed at the Asian market – some rumours suggest a smaller-capacity version is under development for emerging markets – or simply because that's where Rossi happens to be at the time Ducati wants to show the bike? It certainly won't want to launch a Monster at EICMA in Milan next month, as the focus there will be entirely on the 1199 Panigale and any other new models would inevitably be sidelined or ignored.
