Revealed: 2015 Indian Scout

Indian reveals 100hp middle-weight cruiser

INDIAN Motorcycle has announced the launch of the 2015 Scout.

It will cost £10,395 and feature a 1133cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine, making 100hp and 72.3ft-lbs of torque at 5,900rpm through a drive-by-wire throttle and six-speed overdrive transmission.

Weighing in wet at 255kg, Indian is claiming the Scout to be the lightest in its class. It uses a cast aluminium frame coupled with a low 643mm seat height, 1562mm wheelbase and 135mm of ground clearance.

Brakes are ABS-equipped as standard and America’s first motorcycle company is claiming the Scout has ‘exceptional high and low speed manoeuvrability’ and capable of achieving 31 degrees of lean angle.

Steve Menneto, Vice President of motorcycles for Polaris Industries, said: ‘Over the course of 30 years of countless innovations, racing wins, world records and industry firsts, the Scout earned its reputation as a versatile, multifaceted bike that appealed to just about every rider and every riding style, with superior handling, balance, performance and craftsmanship,

‘Our designers and engineers have taken that heritage and those characteristics and fused it into the 2015 Indian Scout, and we think just about everyone who rides this incredible bike is going to feel like it was built just for them.’

The bike is expected for delivery in the UK in early 2015, available in black, red, a silver matte finish and a matte black finish.

Non-US bikes may receive a slightly different specification which will be revealed at the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany, in late September.
