New Bikes

NOT the new Honda RCV

Best looking mock-up yet but not quite the real thing

GERMAN magazine Motorrad have produced a mock-up of what they believe the forthcoming new Honda RCV will look like.

The mock-up shows something akin to a 2012 Fireblade combined with a MotoGP RC213V, sporting racing swing arm, suspension and stubby rear end combined with familiar Fireblade styling up front but with added beefy race-based forks.

The German magazine claim that the bike will have a 1000cc V4-engine, produce over 200bhp, have a light alloy bridge frame and weigh less than 200 kg fully fueled. Not much new there. Motorrad also quote an asking price of 50,000EURO (£42,767), which sadly isn't too unrealistic. We've heard figures from £40,000 up to £80,000.

Honda are talking about putting the bike into production in early 2014 - just to recap, last we heard from Honda themselves, they are 'developing a new super sports motorcycle which will feature technologies derived from Honda’s MotoGP machines. This bike will seek to deliver the same passion and excitement that the RC30 super sports bike created when first introduced in 1987.'

All in all it's a great mock-up but we doubt it's going to look as obvious as this.
