New Panigale will be 1299cc, R remains 1199cc

New 1299s expected to make over 200hp

THE new Ducati Panigale 1299 will get a 100cc displacement increase while the R model will remain at 1199cc, according to internet reports.

The 1299 and 1299S will get a hike in displacement via an increased stroke to the Panigale’s Superquadro engine, it's been claimed. Rumoured to make around 10hp more than the 1199, it should bring power to over 200hp.

Meanwhile, the 1299R is likely to share many parts with the existing Ducati Panigale Superleggera and will remain 1199cc to accommodate WSBK regulations.

Rumours of the 1299 Panigale where inadvertently confirmed when a picture showing the new model was posted on the Facebook page of a US Ducati dealership.

The 1299 Panigale is expected to be unveiled at the Eicma Milan show in November, alongside Ducati’s 2015 Multistrada with variable valve timing.
