New Lotus C-01 motorcycle gets a 200hp V-twin

Former Volkswagen senior designer Daniel Simon is applying the finishing touches before the bike is released

LOTUS' upcoming C-01 motorcycle will be powered by a borrowed V-twin engine that makes 170hp as standard but will be tuned to 'almost 200hp'.

According to a source, the C-01 has already done several 1000kms of road testing.

There are reportedly two bikes under test, one with bodywork fitted - rumoured to be made of carbon fibre - and one without.

Details are thin on the ground but a spokesperson has said they plan to release more information towards the end of February.

The spokesperson told us that Lotus is waiting for head designer Daniel Simon - creator of the Tron LightCycle - to finish some 'styling tweaks'.

The spokesperson said: "He's looking into the smallest details to make it perfect."

"The bike is sharp and handles very well though" he added.

The C-01 is a joint venture between Holzer Group tuning and Kodewa racing team, both of which are based in Germany.

Kodewa has been in charge of the Lotus LMP2 (Le Mans Prototype 2) car which appears to be the only link between the two automotive companies.

Official pictures are yet to be released.
