Horex reveals factory plans

Supercharged VR6-engined naked bike to be built in Augsburg

IT SEEMED a little ambitious when reborn German manufacturer Horex revealed its VR6-engined naked bike in the middle of last year; despite promising production machines the company didn't even have a factory to build them in.

Now, however, plans are in place to construct a new factory Ausburg, south-west Bavaria, to start building the production version of the new bike at the end of this year. Initially, production will be on a small scale, with only around 10 people being employed by the firm. However, it plans to name as many as 60 dealers in Germany and Austria this year, with sales extending to France, the Benelux and Italy in 2012.

Despite the bike's high specification – the supercharged, 1200cc, narrow-angle V6 makes between 175 and 200bhp – and low production, the projected prices aren't as excessive as you might expect; Horex hopes to sell the bikes for around 20,000 Euros, or just under £17,000.
