Ducati Scrambler spy shot

V-twin pictured during development testing in Bologna

HERE'S what an Italian website says is a spy shot of the new Ducati Scrambler, a retro model inspired by the firm’s cult 1960s bike of the same name.

The picture shows it has a V-twin engine, possibly the 803cc one from the Monster 796, although InSella.it reports the final version could be an 1100.

The spy shot shows the bike during development testing on the outskirts of Bologna, according to the site.

It seems unlikely the finished version will be ready for next month’s EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, suggesting the model may not be scheduled for production until 2015.

The idea of a new Scrambler dates back several years, back to the days when Pierre Terblache was Ducati’s design chief and expressed an interest in creating a new scrambler at around the same time as the now-deceased SportClassic line was revealed.
