2019 BMW R1250 GS Adventure released

BMW launches BMW R1250GSA at EICMA

2019 R1250 GS Adventure

IN A SURPRISING twist, BMW has eschewed its usual long wait to reveal an R1250GS Adventure, just weeks after the standard model launched.

Featuring the new 1,254cc boxer powertrain with ShiftCam tech, which we rated so highly at the UK launch, the model brings what every other GSA has before it – additional comfort, extended range, and further off-road capability.

With a tank capacity of 30-litres (that’s 10 more than the stock model), and 0-62mph acceleration in just four seconds, the new GSA will go far and fast. Although with all of its additional kit it weighs in at 268kg (kerb) – almost 20kg more than the standard model (249kg kerb)

It will be available in three colour options of the ‘basic Ice Grey’ – black wheels, frame and powertrain, with silver tank and bars – Exclusive – blacked out with a grey frame, Kalamata metallic tank and gold callipers – and HP – white/racing blue metallic/racing red with gold wheels. New details across the bike include an embossed GS logo on the storage compartment lid, figure hugging engine bars, a redesigned fuel tank protection bracket and engine guard and the intake snorkel and radiator trim in a Galvano look. The HP model, meanwhile, receives a shorter sports windscreen and new radiator guard with an electroplated look.

As with the standard model, the GS Adventure now benefits from a higher level of standard spec,  including Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Hill Start Control (HSC), a LED headlight and BMW’s 6.5-inch full-colour TFT dash.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a BMW without a massive cohort of ex-works options including pro riding modes, Dynamic ESA, shift assist pro, daytime running lights, emergency call and various height seats (from 820mm to 910mm). Comfort, Touring and Dynamic packages offer various combinations of these.

Prices are yet to be released, but expect the R1250GS Adventure to cost in the region of a top spec GS – 16 – 17k.
