UK sales growth for Piaggio Group in 2015

Success of brands including Moto Guzzi, Aprilia and Vespa contribute to increase in registrations throughout 2015

THE Piaggio Group has just released its sales figures for the past 12 months and is celebrating a successful 2015 thanks to a total of 7,068 registrations across its range of brands – putting it in fifth place in the UK sales chart.

Piaggio, which owns Moto Guzzi, Aprilia and Vespa, has said that many of its products recorded significant growth in 2015 over the previous year.

Aprilia and Moto Guzzi enjoyed particular success, with 29% more Guzzis coming to the UK from Italy.

Aprilia’s success came in the form of all 90 UK-bound RSV4 RFs quickly finding homes. The 1100 V4 Tuono also performed strongly with registrations reaching 204 – a 15.3% increase on 2014 despite the bike not being available until mid-way through the year. Total Aprilia registrations were up 7% to 1,323.

The Vespa GTS 300 was the biggest selling scooter in the 126 – 300cc segment, with 956 registrations. The leaning three-wheeled Piaggio MP also saw a 4% increase in sales to 559.
