May Supersport sales down 27 percent

Big drop for supersports bikes according to latest industry stats

UK SALES OF supersport machines took a hard hit in May 2010, falling 27 per cent over the same period in 2009.

Just 1,616 supersport machines were sold last month, compared to 2,212 in May 2009.

Yamaha's YZF-R125 was the top-seller in the category, shifting 236 units. In the litre bike class BMW S1000RR stole the honours, with 140 models of the much-acclaimed superbike being snapped up by UK buyers.

In comparison, BMW sold 385 S1000RRs in March 2010.
