Indian production plant for Triumph

Indian production plant to join British marque's UK and Thailand facilities

TRIUMPH are aiming to build bikes in India after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with a local government to purchase land for a production facility.

The British manufacturer announced their intent to move into the Indian market last June, choosing the emerging market to exploit the country's demand for high-end motorcycles.

The facility that Triumph intends to build will be in Karnataka near Bangalore. The new production plant will join its existing facilities in Hinckley and Chonburi, Thailand.

Triumph will enter the Indian market with seven of its most prominent bikes from its four model families; Roadster/Supersports, Adventure/Touring, Modern Classics and Cruisers.

No word yet on whether a small-capacity Triumph will be part of the range.
