Honda CBR1000RR-R recalled over conrods

Honda is in the process of recalling the new 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R over a potential problem with the engine’s conrods

Honda CBR1000RR-R SP Visordown Review

HONDA is to begin recalling the new 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R over a potential problem the new bike may have with its conrods.

Honda state that the recall has been ordered as a precautionary measure to fix what could be a potential issue with the connecting rods in the CBR1000RR-R's in-line four engine. They also state that no bikes have to date been affected by any failure of the part in question.

The con-rods may have a metallurgical defect, leading us to believe that Honda's conrod supplier produced a faulty batch.

The campaign will result in a delay in the bike's deliveries only in the EU market only, with the rest of the global markets remaining unaffected. It’s estimated that the recall will affect 300 units.

The bike's deliveries to other markets are delayed by a week or two due to the temporary pause of manufacturing at Honda's Japan plant and it has nothing to do with this campaign.

Honda CBR1000RR-R insight

The recall will be a blow to the new Honda which is the most technologically advanced and powerful Fireblade to date. Indeed, the new ‘Blade wowed us on the launch in Qatar, with never seen before levels of performance from a Honda-built inline four-cylinder engine. Add to the power some of the best suspension in the business (the SP version gets Öhlins EC semi-active kit), and the new CBR1000RR-R is probably the most formidable road-going track bikes on the planet.
