Bike firms go for the hard sell

You know the market is tough when even Panigales are getting sales incentives

WITH snow covering half the land, buying a new bike might not be at the top of your mind right now, but several manufacturers have come out with incentives to try to get showroom turnover on the move.

Ducati's Panigale shouldn't really need much help to find buyers, but the firm has still opted to offer a free Bike Trak system to all buyers between now and 30 April 2013. As well as providing peace of mind, the anti-theft system also entitles owners to a 25% insurance discount through Ducati Insurance.

Suzuki is at it, too, offering up to £800 worth of free accessories with certain new models bought before 31 March. The V-Strom 650 ABS and GSX1250FA get the full £800 worth, while the GSX-R750, GSX-R600 and GSR750 get £600 worth, and the GSX650F and SV650S get £300 worth.

Honda has chosen to offer cheap finance until March 31, with deals including 0% APR over 36 months for the 2012-spec Fireblade and outgoing CBR600RR. Smaller bikes such as the PCX125 and CBX125 are also 0%, over 24 months, with a deposit of £99.

Is any of that enough to persuade you to buy new, or are we in for another dismal new bike sales year in 2013?
