BATTISTINIS Custom Cycles, the makers of £100,000-plus motorcycles is to close its shop in Bournemouth and focus on online sales.
Founded in 1990, Battistinis made a name for itself by building custom motorcycles costing upward of £80,000 - their most famous creation being a pink motorcycle for Turner prize-winning artist Grayson Perry.
The shop also featured a tattoo parlour, which boasted being the only tattoo parlour in a motorcycle workshop in the world. Battistinis has seven staff in Bournemouth but also has distribution centres in Los Angeles, USA and Rome, Italy.
Owner, Cllr Mark Battistini, said the firm now plans to concentrate on its core business; making and distributing specialist parts. It will only make one or two bikes a year in the higher £80,000 to £120,000 bracket.
