Wire-trap across road puts biker in hospital

Idiot sets up a trap across busy Aberdeen road

A HOODED idiot set up a wire trap on a busy Aberdeen road that sent a biker flying off his motorcycle.

Amazingly the biker, who was taken by ambulance to hospital, escaped serious injury after hitting the fence.

The horrifying incident happened about 3am on Friday near Aberdeen city centre.

It comes just a week after police in the city launched a hunt for a front-seat passenger in an Audi A3 who pushed a cyclist into a gutter.

Police are also now investigating the booby-trap horror on The Spital road, near Aberdeen University. Fencing had been ripped down from a nearby building site and a man was spotted moving a section of it on to the road.

Shortly afterwards, a northbound motorcyclist drove straight into it. The 28-year-old was thrown off and sustained only minor injuries. But his motorbike, which had carried on going for some distance before colliding with a parked car, was badly damaged.

Constable Michelle Dalgarno, who is heading the inquiry, said: "This appears to have been a prank that has gone seriously wrong. The motorcyclist was fortunate that his injuries were minor but this mindless act could have had fatal consequences."

Police are seeking a male described as 5ft 9in, of medium build, with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with white writing on the back and dark jeans.
