Waldmann linked to MZ factory buyout

Former GP 250cc ace takes serious interest in MZ name

LOTS OF rumours flying around at the moment in Germany that the shut-down MZ factory and racing concern is to be bought by none other that two former GP greats - Ralf Waldmann and Martin Wimmer.

Apparently, the pair have expressed an interest in the business that was closed down a couple of years ago and are due to take a tour of the former works with representatives from the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Both Waldmann and Wimmer were high-profile stars in Germany during their careers, which saw many wins in the 250GP class. Waldmann was also a regularly bashed elbows with former 250cc World Champion Max Biaggi.

It's got to be a given that if they get the MZ name then they'll come back to racing, hasn't it? We're hearing a GP2 team is on the cards.
