Visordown readers raise £1,400 to replace four-year-old girl’s stolen bike

But a generous Honda UK steps in to foot the bill

WHEN four-year-old Izabella Tunnicliffe’s bike was stolen, she said: “Maybe I can give the baddies the money out of my piggybank to get the motorbike back.”

Visordown was touched by the story and set up a crowdfund page to raise the money to buy Izabella a new bike so she could chase her goal of racing in junior motocross.

Beyond our expectation, £1,414 was raised within a month, exceeding the target of £1,349.

In another act of generosity, Honda has now offered to donate a new CRF50F – so Izabella will get her bike while Visordown’s incredibly kind readers will automatically be refunded by the Gofundme page.

Donors included Stuart Smith, who gave £10 and wrote ‘Go for it Izabella!’

Stephen Pile gave £20 and wrote ‘I wish you well.’

One anonymous donor gave £50.

But even with their generosity the fund was still falling short until another anonymous donor gave a staggering £739, taking us all the way to the target with a single gift.

When we approached Honda UK to buy a CRF50F with the funds, the firm immediately offered to simply donate one.

That means none of the money raised will be withdrawn from the crowdfunding page. Instead it will automatically be refunded to donors by Gofundme on July 19.

Izabella’s mum Megan said her daughter had been devastated by the theft, from a locked shed, because she’d hoped to compete in the AMCA schoolboy championship next year, something she will now be able to do.

Megan said: “I’m really shocked that it’s been raised so quickly. She’s desperate to get back on a bike. She really misses riding.

“We wouldn’t be able to replace it otherwise so we are forever grateful.”

A Honda spokesman said the bike was being prepared to hand over to Izabella.
