MotoGP: BSB's Rea to get wildcard ride

BSB ace will make his MotoGP debut at Donington

JONNY REA, the young HM Plant Honda British Superbike ace, has been given a wildcard entry to make his MotoGP debut in this year's British Grand Prix at Donington on 24th of June.

20-year old Rea, from Ballyclare, is currently preparing for the Suzuka 8-Hour race. His MotoGP ride will be with the Team Roberts squad.

The Roberts GP team have recently expanded their entry to two riders. Last weekend at Mugello, Kurtis Roberts raced for his father's team, alongside his brother, Kenny Roberts Jr who's the team's regular. Unfortunately Kurtis retired on the lap four but Kenny went on to finish 17th.

Rea will be the only Briton on the MotoGP grid, following the withdrawal of the British-based Ilmor GP team, whose riders were Andrew Pitt and veteran Brit, Jeremy McWilliams.
