Kawasaki ZX-10R awarded best sportsbike

The Best of the Best for sportsbikes, cruisers, tourers and customs revealed

KAWASAKI'S ZX-10R for the digital age has been awarded the accolade of 'Best of the Best' from the luxury annual Robb Report.

Ranked amongst the top premium products from the car world, like the Ferrari 458 Italia and Bentley Mulsanne, the 2011 ZX-10R was recognised by the luxury magazine as the leader in the sportsbike category, with the BMW K1600 topping the tourers, for cruisers the Ducati Diavel and the NCR Millona 16 as the best custom.

For 2011 Kawasaki reworked the ZX-10R to incorporate power with intelligence, we love the new green machine as it marks the beginning of the future for sportsbikes and the Robb Report stated that, "The new and improved Ninja ZX-10R has plenty of brawn, but riders will be pleased to discover that it also has a big brain."

Leading the cruisers was Ducati's new Diavel, a machine that gets its name from one of the engineers claiming the bike was 'evil like the devl'. The Robb Report discuss that despite the devotees of the Bologna marque were originally skeptical that the new cruiser 'compromising its principles' and built a bike unlike the signature race-bred sportsbikes. Riders were soon won over by the combination of cruiser attitude with the underlining of a sporty temperament.

The BMW K1600 GT/GTL has been portrayed as lifting the level of luxury for the tourers and the Robb Report noticed this by granting them the position of the best in this area of category. One of the focal points on the new K1600 in the report was the six-cylinder engine, which they described as 'silky smooth'.

Perhaps the most desirable of the bunch is the NCR Millona 16. Taking the honours of the best custom, the Italian boutique builder have created a bike based around the powerplant of the Ducati Desmosedici, and starting at $160,000 - without the engine - it achieves NCR's bold claim of being the 'most exclusive motorcycle in the world'. The M16 surrounds the Desmosedici engine in the carbon fibre to make the lightest bike possible and then fitted it with race-ready components.
