James Toseland receives honorary doctorate

Former MotoGP man collects award at Sheffield University

TWO-TIME World Superbike Champion James Toseland collected an honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University, after two years in premier class racing.

The former Yamaha MotoGP racer was awarded the honour at the City Hall during two weeks of annual graduation celebrations.

The 29-year-old, who returns to the World Superbike stage in 2010, riding for Yamaha, said: "To be here and recognised by the City and Sheffield Hallam is possibly the most humbling thing I've ever received.

"It's a great honour and the icing on the cake for me after winning two championships and hopefully another next year."

Toseland is to partner fellow Brit Cal Crutchlow in next year's Yamaha World Superbike squad.
