Horex back from the brink

Buyer saves insolvent bike firm

IN December it looked like the dream was all over for the radical VR6-engined Horex project but a last-minute buyer has stepped in with the hope of saving the brand.

The buyer is 3C Carbon Group of Landsberg am Lech, a firm that specialises in the production of carbon fibre components and which won last year’s German IDM superbike championship with Xavi Fores, with teammate Max Neukirchner taking the runner-up spot.

It’s not clear whether the VR6 itself will survive. At the moment, 3C is focussed on creating a supply of spare parts for existing machines. It also says it wants to bring back Horex-branded machines to the market as soon as possible, and wants to develop a ‘marketable concept’ for the brand. That may mean the unusual VR6 could return in a renewed form, or that 3C has plans to use the Horex name on a totally different bike.
