Honda shift Goldwing production out of USA

Marysville production plant to close after 30 years and 1 million Goldwings

Honda have announced that they are going to close their manufacturing plant in Marysville, Ohio and move production to Japan in what we can only imagine is a cost-cutting excercise.

This story must be salt in the wounds of Honda employees, especially since Honda have announced that the 3-door Civic Type R, which is built in the UK, will be shipped to Japan for the Japanese market.

Since it opened in 1979, over 1 million Goldwings have been produced in Marysville - that's over 30,000 a year. Loyal Goldwing owners are not happy that production is leaving the US.

The Goldwing is the only Honda that's not imported into the US and so, with production being moved to Japan, all Hondas sold in the US will be imported. It's not known what the future is for the Marysville plant employees.
