Girl biker donates kidney to best mate

West Midlands bike chick donates organ to help best buddy back onto her bike

A FEMALE BIKER has donated one of her kidneys to help save the life of her bike-riding buddy.

Angela Hale, 35, from the West Midlands donated one of her kidneys to best pal Leesa Fryers, after the 39-year-old's health seriously deteriorated. Leesa's condition had become so bad she didn't have the strength to ride her Suzuki SV650 motorcycle.

Speaking to Visordown, Miss Hale said: "We've been mates for over 20 years. We did our CBT together about six years ago - which was nearly as scary as donating the kidney!

"After Leesa's condition took a serious turn for the worst I volunteered to donate one of my kidneys, as her long-term future was looking bleak. It's the least I could do for a biking mate."

The pair went into surgery last Friday and were both home the following week.

Leesa, who lives in Redditch, says she hopes to be back on her bike in the near future.

The NKF is the only charity in the United Kingdom Run by Kidney Patients for Kidney Patients.

The Federation’s aim throughout the UK is to promote both the best renal medical practice and treatment, and the health of persons suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) or Established Renal Failure (ERF).

The NKF also supports the related needs of those relatives and friends who care for kidney patients.
