Female quad biker feared drowned

Search abandoned late last night - will resume today

A FEMALE quad biker was feared drowned at the weekend after rescue teams found an abandoned quad bike upturned in a fast flowing river.

Passers by spotted the red Honda lying against a tree in the River Nith, near Thornhill, Dumfrieshire.

Police, Moffat Mountain Rescue and Nith Inshore Rescue have been searching the area and have discovered what they believe is the woman's jacket a mile downstream, reports today's Sun newspaper.

The search was called off late last night and will resume this morning.
