Deer causes biker death

News story on a freak motorcycle accident

Animals on the road are a constant hazard, especially in the UK. None worse than the deer; capable of prancing into your path with no care in the world. But unlike the rabbit or low flying bird, deer are - due to their lane hogging size - hard to avoid, as an unfortunate doctor in Indiana found out.

Dr. Ranford Hall, 55, a podiatrist and pilot was at his local airfield in Bedford when he got on his bike to check on the lights of a friends plane. On his way back to the hanger along the mile long runway, a deer ran into the path of Dr. Hall's motorcycle. The two collided and although wearing a full-face helmet, Dr. Hall died from head injuries. We can only assume the deer met a similar end.
