Brad Pitt’s Bonneville to go to auction

A SPECIAL edition Triumph Bonneville, once owned by Brad Pitt, is due to go under the Coys Auction’s hammer at this weekend’s Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show.

The 2009 Bonneville Bud Ekins Desert Scrambler Special was one of three commissioned to celebrate the life of its stuntman namesake, who passed away in 2008.

Ekins was a close friend of Steve McQueen, and raced alongside the Hollywood legend in the 1960s. These special edition models, built by Brad Holstein on behalf of Triumph, were designed to replicate the ‘sled racers’ favoured by the pair.

Oceans 11 producer Jerry Weintaub reportedly gave this model to Pitt with a birthday message engraved into the petrol cap.

According to the Coys listing, the bike is expected to fetch between £20,000 and £30,000 at auction on Saturday. It is in ‘good all-round condition’, and ‘has been used only occasionally by the current owner’.

The listing adds: ‘The Triumph retains its registration plates from the former owner Brad Pitt. Ready for the open road and summer months.’
