YAMAHA has revealed one of its first 2018 models – an updated version of its popular X-MAX 125 scooter, which has sold more than 140,000 units since its 2006 debut.
For 2018, the learner-legal X-MAX will boast a EU4-compliant 125cc fuel-injected single cylinder engine, offering seamless twist-and-go acceleration and low fuel consumption, making it even more accesible and commuter friendly than before.
The traction control system seen in the larger X-MAX models has filtered down to the 125, and alongside ABS both front and rear makes up the standard electronics offerings. Telescopic forks, more commonly seen on motorcycles, also feature, with the promise of improving stability on the scooter.
The 2018 model has also been upgraded in the usability stakes and offers under-seat storage for two full-face helmets. Yamaha’s ‘Smart Key’ keyless ignition system, an adjustable screen and handlebars, a 12V power outlet and dual digital instruments with a central LCD display all combine to make the 2018 X-MAX an extremely practical option.
Not only is the model practical, but it’s also pleasing to the eye. New dual LED headlights and tail lights are borrowed from other members of the MAX scooter family and when it goes on sale in autumn, colour options will comprise light grey, dark grey, red and blue.
