AN updated MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR has been revealed at Eicma in Milan.
For 2018, the 798cc naked triple – which MV describes as ‘intentionally over the top’ – gets styling changes and electronics tweaks, as well as Euro4 compliance.
In making it compliant with the latest noise and emission limits, MV has also fastened the engine to the frame with ‘new anchoring points’, said to increase ‘torsional rigidity’.
The gearbox is ‘entirely new’, with less force required on the selector to shift and a quicker, smoother engagement action, MV says.
Styling changes include the front mudguard, which now has aluminium side brackets.
MV says the dash has a new cover with ‘aluminium elements’ and the tank pad is also aluminium, ‘standing out with a laser engraved MV Agusta logo’.
The tail unit is new and the seat has been redesigned, with the rear section coloured to match the bodywork.
The number plate hanger is new and the indicators have gone LED. The pillion foot-pegs tuck out of sight when folded.
There are also new anodised and brushed aluminium shields on the silencers.
A statement from MV at the motorcycle show in Italy said the ECU algorithms were new and the ride-by-wire throttle had been 'improved to the benefit of easy operation' but shed no further light on the nature of the improvement.
It said the eight-stage traction control had been 'updated, refining operation'.
The statement was more concrete in its description of the new graphics, which are a ‘pearly white base alongside sections in matt anthracite grey and with fluorescent red inserts’ (above) or a 'glossy grey colour scheme matched with matt grey and fluo yellow' (below).
