Arc tease another view of the Vector ahead of EICMA unveiling

UK electric bike manufacturer shares a new view of the Vector, showing off the headlight arrangement and front suspension setup

WE WERE one of the first to show the public the Arc Vector a few weeks back. And now the Coventry-based manufacturer has teased another shot to whet our appetites ahead of EICMA - where Visordown will be on hand to bring you the full unveiling.

The new picture clearly shows the bike has an LED headlight with multiple elements all shrouded in a neat looking nose cone. It also seems to show DRL (Daytime Riding Lights) on either side of the headlight, which is a nice touch.

In the first shots, we were speculating that the front end was a hub steering design, like a Bimota Tesi 3D. The new picture confirms it isn’t a conventional fork setup but doesn’t give us much more to go on. It’s fair to say that the Vector’s front end is going to be one of the big talking points of the bike and the team is probably keeping their powder dry until the big reveal.

What we do know about the bike is that the HMI (Human Machine Interface) comprises Arc’s own design of helmet, the Zenith, that includes a fighter pilot-style HUD (Head-Up Display) and armoured riding kit. The clothing is something different and will provide the rider haptic feedback to warn the user of potential hazards. For example, your shoulder might vibrate to alert of a nearby hazard, or the jacket will amplify the sense of excitement during a spirited ride. All while information is projected in front of the rider via the HUD, so they can keep their eyes on the road.

Sounds interesting – but stuff like this can get in the way of the knitting, as it were. When you're making an all-new electric bike, you're probably best focussing on the core stuff like battery and motor tech and performance, rather than spending valuable time and cash on side issues like 'haptic clothing' and a 'fighter jet' dashboard. Make a banging electric bike, then bring out the other stuff later on would be our plan. But what do we know?

You can be sure this isn’t the last teaser we'll see from Vector in the run-up to EICMA. We'll bring you more news as we have it.
