DUCATI MotoGP test rider Michele Pirro escaped relatively unscathed from a 200mph crash at the Mugello round.
The Italian, who has more miles under his belt than probably any rider in history at the Tuscan track, flew through the air at an elevation of around 15 feet before landing in the kitty litter and being knocked out cold.
He was transferred to the medical centre and then Florence Hospital but was back at the track a day later affter suffering only concussion, a dislocated shoulder and other bruising.
It is thought that a small tankslapper knocked the pads back in the calipers and Pirro's third attempt to make the carbon brakes caused the pads to bite so violently, the GP18 rotated around its front wheel spindle and fired him into the air.
He wanted to race on Sunday...
