Electrical Starter problems

As a few of you are aware, I've been restoring a Yamaha TZR-50 2003.

I recently discovered that the whole wiring loom needed replacing, so I did so.
I then decided to replace the starter motor and the battery.

My main problem is that the starter won't even turn when under power. The starter relay just clicks.
However, it seems to be a VERY intermittent fault as it works every so often...

I've checked the earth, connections, everything I can think of!! It's really starting to get on my nerves. If someone could offer any advice on what needs doing, PLEASE COMMENT!!

This project is starting to get on my nerves as I've been doing it since this time last year...

Thanks in advance

Your solenoid is working as it clicks so there are two things to look at. First make sure the battery is fully charged and in good condition. Second, take the starter motor off and open it up, remembering how it goes together, and check for worn or stuck brushes. It should spin freely when off the engine.

Bad earth

Good call oldboy
