Somone thinks one of my threads is dead useful!!!!!!! :burnout: :smoke:

Hey Kyot! Fancy a go at keeping this up to date...a sort of Touring index thingummy? It'll help as some of the infor-rich threads sink a bit.

The idea was to pick up stuff from General, Days Out, Gallery & even Survival Skills which may be of interest; but not necessarily transferable to Touring.I don't fancy indexing Touring as such! Do I look like Sisyphus? (and look at the best laid plans of Mice and Spin Doctor!).But, if we wanted a thread of Reference Threads (as opposed to touring reports), it'd be upto Ben, as it should really be sticky.

Fair enough. I've been trying to put links (like on securing bikes on ferries) to threads in General etc...into related threads on here. Just realised it's going to be a bit of a job to keep that going unless others do the same when they spot them. Otherwise it's going to be a mare to find stuff without Search.*goes back to headscratching*

Just let me know where they are and if they are more relevant to Touring than General I will move them here.

Tricky one that. eg the thread on securing the bike on a ferry...general interest really if 'touring' is more than a hoppity-skip across the channel for a day or two. What I was thinking was that there are some standard topics on stuff...like the routing software one, the ferries one and the ones on 'kit' that could be organised into some sort of stickie...a bit like the ones in the Computer forum. Not a hooooge fan of stickies but with Search not available 24/7 there'll be a bit of dupli-tripli-cation.I'm happy to potter about and stick links here and there as I spot 'em and keep updating/boinging the routing thread as long as it doesn't offend folk.

It could be just one "Look Here First" sticky, with one post per subject, which the owner or mod can add thread links into as appropriate. The problem is, I'd guess, that when things like that are not maintained they degrade and look bad.It maybe better, to keep things 'tidy' that, when its obvious, threads are just merged?

Like the tents, sleeping bags and stoves type threads? One 'KIT' thread?Sounds good to me...but isn't very 'VD' ethos really. It's a bit more fluid.

True - and to do nothing for 1 year 5 days Never-the-less; I've done this for-what-its-worth.

Nice one Kyot! I've stuck this thread.Might be a plan to keep it all edited in the first post?

Ah well, mustn't rush things. There's a good one here:Your top touring tip - www.visordown.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202687May boing it as 'the season' is getting under way And this one on On-line map and routing facilities - www.visordown.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202983

Just because I've been playing with it; I've (as of now) tagged Touring in del.icio.us.There's no guarantee I'll maintain it or anything...Anyway it's easy to search and not so hard to contribute to.To Search:go here and you will see a pile of categories & tags down the right and links to the left.Click on a tag & you'll see links associate with it.That's about it really. To be a bit more selective, in the box at the top you can type things in like "reports+france" and get reports of folks rides in France. Most the links are back into Touring, some are into Gallery or General and some are companies people have recommended here.To Contribute:- post here with recomendations- get an account and you can use the for: feature- persuade me to give you the password.let me know what you think - not that I care all that much

Doh!

As another slant. You can look at the keywords as a Cloud.just having 'fun'.wonder if Jimbo would embed the JS in this page :smoke:

Only just spotted this sticky. Excellent, Kyot. (and honoured my thread gets a mention! )

thanks.I'm always looking for recomendations for the 'best threads' bit.No one has made any comments on the del.icio.us tags - bit modern for this lot

Done! You can include an del.icio.us tag cloud using something like:[noparse][delicioustagcloud]vdtouring[/delicioustagcloud][/noparse][delicioustagcloud]vdtouring[/delicioustagcloud]

how cool is that...VD meets WEB2.0 :smoke:maybe not the best colour scheme... I can change that.oh, no I can't... did you use my code? Not sure which colours would work on both skins...maybe something like cz=[230,230,255]?... and to be consistent with the vBullitin look&feel, clicking a tag should open another window/tab... so needs a TARGET=_blank in the docwrite(..href..) termfinally, the code on the webpage has 'vdtouring' hardwired<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript" SRC="http://del.icio.us/feeds/json/tags/vdtouring">should have the parameter passed to it...oh, now I remember why I got out of s/w development

Cheers Jimbo,Now anyone can do it...[delicioustagcloud]kyot/visordown[/delicioustagcloud]

Excellent, Kyot How does the for: feature work?

Scootabout wrote

ta.If you tag something, you can 'send' it to vdtouring (e.g. something I missed, maybe a good 'otherforum' page etc.) and I can incorporate it into the vdtouring tag bundle.

I always go back to my list when I'm off on the bike. I think others may find this usefulwww.visordown.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214128

Why spend all your hard-earned money on the real thing if you can get something practically identical for a zero less? We have wide collection of all Replica Handbags and purses with elegant designs. These are really hard to tell apart from the original. Usually high quality designer Replica Handbags mirror at least 95% Replica Handbags the original models, even some handbag experts can hard to distinguish the replicas from authentic real things, you can easily fool people into believing that you are carrying a Replica Handbags, which will let you get more confidence and glamour. In fact, some people might not even believe you if you tell them that it is fake. This article comes from the www.louisvuittonen.com
