Scotland - Bulgaria

A friend and myself are about to leave on our first *proper* biking tour.
Were going on a 3 week bike trip to Varna in Bulgaria, roughly one week each
way with a week in Bulgaria.
Were leaving on the 3rd of July via the Rosyth - Zebrugge ferry and so far
the only outbound destination is the Transfaragan highway in Romania.
The way home is via Auschwitz and the Nurburgring.

Do any of the well travelled have any advice or places to visit en route or any advice on equipment etc ?
We are intending on camping and are using tomtom rider 2's with a map backup to find our way.

Cheers

I've only been to Sofia, and by plane not bike, but it looks an interesting country (I was only there for a few days). Let us know how you got on if you go.Budapest is a big old place, I didn't think much of it to be honest. Be careful if you plan going out for the night while there. We heard lots of stories of pickpocketing, and brits getting fleeced in nightclubs and stripclubs. Not us though, we're good boysKrakow is a lovely place, well worth a visit.

We have been to Bulgaria a few time but never on a bike we are looking to do this in 2012 as it will take a lot to arrange. I am hoping that 5 or 6 bikes & 1 van will be going. Will put a post on when we get back. Thanks to the god boys for your tip about the pickpockets & the likes.

anyone else done this?
