Let's get physical.....

I'm just curious.....

What do you do to keep fit ??

(no sex please, we're british !! )

I've been riding for 2 years now.....and I've come to the realisation that I'm fuggin unfit. I've just quit smokeing, 3 weeks now....(after nearly 20yrs at 20/day)...and I started looking for a way to get fit again.

I hate joggin, my mountain bike is fun, but I can only do it on weekends, and close to home (it's becoming more and more difficult to take bikes on trains, and I've got no car available)...gyms bore me.

So a coupla weeks ago I bought some rollerblades....or to be more accurate, some 'inline' skates dude...as the short trousered, long haired hippies in the shop keep telling me.

I love it !! It's bloody hard work !!! but a great laugh. I take the skates everywhere I go, and tend to get out every lunchtime for 30 mins down by the river.......any other 'binliners' out there ???

I'm off to try and make it down the stairs without falling or grabbing the hand rails.....now...wheres me crash helmet ??

I skate, dont like being called binlinners though

'I'm a boxther not a thighter' as Chris Ewe-Bank would say

Nor do I mate But I used to skateboard, and I've got a thirtysomething female friend who still does, and that's what she calls it !!Where do you live Priller ?

S.WalesSkateboarders - Wanks on Planks

Would happily meet up for a London sesh.I skate mini-ramps (badly - still can't get up a vert, cah!) and rails (as long as they're low!). I really do stink. But I can skate about in a respectable fashion, sliding stops, crossovers, etc.

Another aggressive skater, what skates?

Ooh, let me see...Walk the DogPlay SquashGo to the GymGo Hillwalking (with the Dog)Go Mountain-BikingDid you know that it's illegal to use a mountain bike on the road, or at least it ought to be...

What mountain bike animal?

Although I won't necessarily agree with you.....I might make the effort to bring my skates to S.Wales sometime.(I don't get this petty infighting....I get the same thing on snow....I snowboard and ski.....I enjoy both....same with skates and board....)But anyway....my mum has just moved to somewhere called Laleston, nr.Bridgend. I haven't seen the place...and I've no idea where it is....but as soon as the bike is back on the road I'll be going down there to check it out.......are you a long way from there ??(PS: all this will have to wait till my new skates arrive...I bought a really cheap pair, and I've worn them out in 2 weeks.....CBR have a pair of blue+white roces khuti on the way for me...woo hoo !!)

last night on TV, I shall very shortly be joining a gym.but it is boring.

Where are you based ?and what skates ??

Play footy in the Lancashire & Cheshire footy league.Or schoolboy footy as it seems....our team has 9 people who cant/wont/dont/never pass. This is why I'm so fit.....I spend 88 mins chasing the ball.the two spare minutes is when we pick the ball out of the net and when its our turn to kickoff. Were crap at footy but can beat anyone at drinking/falling over and can carry a stimulating conversation about nothing for however long is necessary

Metz, i dont have a problem with skateboarders, only those who have a problem with me. Yep, i'm near bridgend, newport is good for skating. I've got a piar of K2 250cc.

Work in City of London, live in Billericay, Essex.I've got an old pair of Roces Street, anti-rockered, Fat-Boys on the outside, Senate Buu-tangs on the inside. Upgraded the bearing to ABEC 5s. Also a pair of Baeur SX 5s for just trolling around on.Gotta run, lunchrtime will sopeak later...

Metz, are you any good?

X-country rider then?

Yes m8...but you have to ride up the hills to get back down again

push the sodding bike everytime it won't start or go.

Much easier to ride down the hills.

Favourite riding place is the dark peak, round Edale...Top climbsTop routes across the top of some big stuffSeriously technical downhillsshame it's closed I'll post up a thread next time I'm going (when it's open again) to see if there's any interest...

Dont suppose you ever tried using a skate park?

Nope... but I'll do anything 4 a laff

You should have ago, good fun on a bike, not sure if yours is upto it though.

why would that be then ???If it can stand the shock of riding down from the top of Snowdon in under 20 minutes, I'm sure a few jumps wouldn't faze it...

or would you be embarassed being seen with a bike with straight bars ???

Down hill or hardtails are normally better suited to jumps.

S'ok... the Sata-cruz has a lock-out on the rear shock, and I've got an old hardtail I could use instead...

If you think its upto it, have a try, you might enjoy it, just dont go on the weekend.

LOLThanks for the advice...

Where are you? (Priller - I know you're in Wales, and that's a bit far to go for a skate!).I go to Rom Skate Park every now and again to learn from the kids. and sometimes to the ramps in Chelmsford. But it hasn't been very often this year, as it's been ever so slightly wet...

To answer your question first Priller....err....nope...I'm complete and utter unmitigated shite !!!.....ahem...yep...that's just about sums it up.But I'll try anything once...and if it works and I like it, I do it again.I seem to be fine with all the basic stuff...bare in mind I've been at this since the last bank holiday monday....so I can handle all the stuff you guys take for granted....t stops, spins stops,crossovers...speed is not a problem....but the skates I've been using are sports/recreational.....(78mm wheels)....My skates arrived this lunch time....I've just got back from collecting them.....sadly, they could only get me the black/red khutis, not the blue/white that I wanted, but I'm happy anyway......they fit great, seriously comfortable....and I'll be trying them out around Canary Wharf this evening !!!!......there are plenty of places for me to get my first grinds in !!! (before the security guards catch me !!!)Tricky.....I live in Wimbledon (plus have house in Aylesbury, Bucks, where x-missus and kids live)...and I work in Canary Wharf. As for where I skate.....anywhere I can...but as I'm new to this, I'm still working my way upto skate parks.....Brighton (skate 2000 venue) and PSSP are likely to be my first attempts !!

Down the gym 3 nights a week running and little bit of weights and football once a week.Which allows be to go on the beer the other 3 days and a few smokes ! Its works ive got a beer gut but not that bad (yet)

Run to pub (if raining)Walk to car/bike.Run after various good looking male specimens.Well thats me knackered LOL.Nah seriously.. used to kickbox etc, so have a good go on me punch bag to releive stress hehehehe, (well it's better than hitting the boss and getting nicked for it eh?)

I dont know if you've heard but the PSSP isn't the best place to be, there's been a few muggings around the area.

Ought to do some, but can't be arsed, cos I've not found an activity (that I'm going to admit to here) that's sufficently stimulating.Used to do archery many years ago - not a tremendous amount of physical activity involved though.Thought about joining a gym, but I can't afford the most obvious one to go to (i.e. on the way back from work). So will have to continue to rely on going up and down stairs to maintain by Adonis-like physique.

boing, metz read above.

I heard something about that......but to be honest....anyone who tries to 'ave a go at me, with the company I keep, is heading for a Darwin award. One of the guys I'm skating with is 6'3, brickshithouse material....and basically v.hard.....I'll hang around him..recon I'll be okay Besides...If I go to PSSP, it'll be on Sunday mornings...beginners lessons, don'tchya know....hehe....hardly prime mugging time, now is it.I recon Brighton is a better option anyway...just nip down on the train, be there in 1 hr.....on any nice sunny weekend...puuuurrrrfect.

The problem aint in the skatepark its in the area around it. Jordon ( micheal morales ) was mugged outside there by a gang of about 10 people.Just thought a better warn you.

maybe I'll start wiv brighton then....hehe.....mind you, Sunday mornings ? they'll all be in church, won't they ??

Brighton probably the best option, try to go in the week less kids there.
