Rideouts: Niall Mackenzie's Highland Fling

Route 4. Central-West Scotland

Central-West Scotland

Route
Stirling A84 North
Crianlarich A82/A85
Fort William
Oban A828
Crianlarich A85

Stirling may be the start of this inspirational ride but as it's also the gateway to the Highlands, it's worth taking the time out to indulge in this historic town with its many tourist attractions.

From Stirling take the A84 North to Crianlarich then head to Fort William via the A85 and A82. I guarantee you will see some of the most stunning UK scenery including Lochs, forests, glens and mountains. The scenery will move you. From here on, it's fast open roads through Glencoe (watch out for the Police, it's a popular route) then on to Fort William, which is also brill with Ben Nevis as your backdrop.

If you're out on a Sunday, remember to meet for breakfast with other bikers at McDonalds. For the return leg, you can do a nice loop on the way back via Oban on the A828 then joining the A85 back at Crianlarich. Job's a dream!
