Long Way Up

EWAN McGregor and Charley Boorman’s latest adventure lands later this month, and the official trailer for Long Way Up has just landed.

The expedition is a follow up to Long Way Round (2004) and Long Way Down (2007) and sees best friends McGregor and Boorman take on the American continent riding from the tip of South America to Los Angeles.

The previous series of the show saw that team riding on petrol-powered BMW R1150GS machines, with extensive modifications to help them achieve their goal. This time though, to mixed approval, the actors and motorcycle enthusiasts will be attempting the feat on Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycles.

As before, the bikes have been heavily modified to help them finish the 13,000 miles, adding to rumours that Harley-Davidson could be adding an adventure inspired LiveWire to the range, either as a full production model or a special edition.

As any riders of electric motorcycles will know, one of the trickiest parts of covering distance is finding a place within range to recharge the bike’s batteries. This task seems to have been made even harder given South America's sub-optimal (when compared to Europe and North America) electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The first three episodes of the 11-part unscripted series will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, September 18. New episodes will roll out weekly, every Friday.

Apple TV+ is available on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV and Roku devices, as well as at tv.apple.com, for £4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial.
