KYMCO might be about to take on the biggest automotive brand in the world, in probably the most niche motorcycle segment, with an adventure scooter to take on the Honda X-ADV!

Honda X-ADV 2021 Specs

We’re going to have to wait a little longer for the official confirmation, 26th of November is when all will be revealed, but from the film, it does seem to be very adventurous.

Kymco is a company that specialises in scooters, only making a limited number of small capacity bikes. With that in mind, it’s unlikely that the firm is going to go toe-to-toe with the like of BMW and KTM in the light or middle weight adventure scene.

What’s more likely to happen is that the CV2 concept that was doing the rounds in 2017 is finally about to be revealed. If it is CV2-based, the engine is likely to be the same 550cc parallel-twin engine from the AK range of scooters. That’ll mean around 55bhp, 41lb-ft of torque, and exceptional fuel economy.

The Kymco CV2 concept from 2017

Back then it was a futuristic take on the maxi-scooter concept, with raked out styling that was more ‘Street Hawk’ than adventure bike. While the design of the concept might not have aged well, we don’t expect the bike to be unveiled later this month to look anything like that.

Kymco CV2 adventure scooter teaser

The video teaser the firm has released shows acres of rugged coastline, adventure sports, and just one, fleeting glimpse of the new bike. But in that short half a second blink we can see the machine being pointed up a dirt road, riding pinning the throttle and obligatory ‘adventure-spec’ leg dangle in full effect.

With that in mind, we’re expecting the bike we see later this month to be much more of an adventurer’s friend. Think semi-knobblies, long-ish travel USDs, handguards, and crash bars.

And we really like the sound of that!
