Tom Cruise completes huge ramp jump for latest Mission Impossible film

TOM Cruise has taken part in one of the most ambitious and expensive motorcycle stunts ever to take place on UK soil for the latest Mission Impossible films.

The video, seen below, shows Cruise leaping a modified Honda CRF450 from a huge ramp while being flanked by drones to capture the action. Both the bike and Tom Cruise were tethered to prevent them from coming to harm – although that’s not to say the scene ran totally without a hitch.

It is reported that one of the bikes used for the stunt was damaged during filming, causing the machine to explode on the set of the film.

The stunt is reported to be one of the most ambitious and expensive ever to take place on UK soil, having reportedly cost around £2m to set up and film. It saw the crew and actor descend on a disused RAF base in Oxfordshire, going as far as to set up temporary traffic lights to help prevent members of the public from filming the escapade. That still wasn’t enough though to stop one fan from filming the act, having found a vantage point from a nearby bridleway.

The stunt had originally been slated to take place in Venice, Italy, although with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic creating travel chaos across much of mainland Europe, filming was eventually switched to the UK.

It’s not Tom’s first time on UK in 2020, just before the UK lockdown began he was spotted on another disused RAF base learning how to wheelie a motorcycle, that time riding a specially prepared BMW G310 GS.
