First Triumph-Bajaj launch be a direct rival to Honda H’ness, Royal Enfield?

The first product from Triumph-Bajaj's collaboration could turn out to be a 300-350cc Neo-Classic to rival the new Honda H'ness

Triumph Speed Triple RS

Royal Enfield may well be feeling just a little bit attacked at the moment after not only being forced to push back the launch of its crucial Meteor 350  again, but was then forced to watch the limelight snatched away by the big news rebooted Honda Highness (H’ness) too.

Moreover, it seems the onslaught to Royal Enfield’s hefty chunk of Indian market share in the 350cc division could come under more threat shortly with reports both Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj will also enter the fray.

It is the latter of these two proposals that catch our eye because if Bajaj does indeed push into a small displacement category, this could well turn out to be the first Triumph-badged model to come from their impending collaboration.

FIRST RIDE - APRILIA RS 660 REVIEW

Last year Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles officially announced they will be joining forces to begin developing and manufacturing models in India that will both be sold more cheaply locally but also offered around the world.

The models will range between 250cc - 700cc, giving Triumph broad scope in which to createa more affordable entry level global range wearing the iconic British badge.

With this in mind, a push into the 350cc segment seems like the perfect start for Bajaj and Triumph to establish a good platform from which to stamp its mark.

With the Honda H’ness adopting the Neo-Classic look that has become so familiar across the Honda range around the world, Triumph too is certainly no stranger to the more retro stylings of two wheel transport.

As for when we could see a production model, Triumph - who has remained very tight lipped about which models may be launched - suggests the first sales to come in 2022.
