Royal Enfield announce Tripper Navigation system launched

Royal Enfield has announced a new navigation system that is both modern and fittingly retro at the same time

ROYAL ENFIELD has announced a new type of dash mounted satnav called Tripper Navigation. It has been initially brought out for the Meteor 350, although other models in the range will likely gain the tech also.

The system is refreshingly retro – as only Royal Enfield knows how – and features a small, chrome rimmed screen that on the new Meteor 350 sits just to the right of the main dash. The hardware fixed to the bike isn’t the main piece of tech though, for the system to work it needs to be connected to the rider’s smartphone through a dedicated app.

The user inputs their destination into the app, which then uses Google Maps data to plot the route and keep an eye on any changes in the traffic along the route the rider wishes to take. The system also uses the Google Locations and Places feature, allowing it to pick out places of interest, and food, drink, and petrol stations if needed.

Once the destination is entered, the small TFT screen notifies the rider of which direction they need to turn in and how far it is until the next junction, fork in the road, or turn.

As we mentioned at the top, the system is initially being launched for the Meteor 350, although with standalone systems such as thins proving increasingly popular, it seems sensible to offer the tech on other models and even as a standalone product.
