THE Driver Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has confirmed that all motorcycle testing and training centres are to be closed for the duration of the COVID-19 lockdown.

The unsurprising news comes after British PM Boris Johnson announced on Friday that the UK would be moving into the second period of restrictions on movement. The latest restrictions are again attempting to quell the spread of COVID-19 and are set to last from Thursday the 5th of November, until Wednesday the 2nd December.

While the above-mentioned dates are the PM’s best estimate of how long restrictions end, the time we are kept indoors for could be extended should the virus not react in the way in the way expected. If that is the case, we’d expect motorcycle testing and training centres to also remain closed for a longer period of time.

The suspension will also affect the booking and undertaking of the theory testing, something that has already been under huge demand in recent months.

A statement released on the DVSA Twitter account reads:

Following the Government announcement on tougher national restrictions from Thursday, driver and rider training and tests will be suspended in England from 5 November until 2 December 2020.

We will be providing further guidance and contacting those affected as soon as we can.
