LEWIS Hamilton has said he is ‘super excited’ to be seat swapping with Valentino Rossi. The December showdown will see Rossi take to the cockpit of a two-season old Mercedes F1 car while Hamilton tries out the Yamaha MotoGP machine.

The two champions have been talking up the switch for some time now, with mutual sponsor, Monster Energy, no doubt helping to grease the wheels somewhat. The switch is due to take place on December 9th at Valencia.

Crash.net reported that Hamilton felt humbled to be on the same track as Rossi, saying: "I’m super excited about it," Hamilton said.

"Just being on the same track at the same time as Valentino is going to be very, very surreal, and a real honour, because he’s such an icon in the sport, and he’s done so much. It’ll be cool to see him in my car as well.

"I’ve been riding bikes for the last couple of years. I’ve only done three days on them on the track, but they have been incredible, and I’m always watching MotoGP.

"There’s a small group of us in the team that love riding, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do since I was young. It’s really hardcore."

This is not Hamilton’s first time on track with world-class riders, earlier this year he undertook a test day on a GYTR R1M at Jerez with Michael van der Mark and Alex Lowes for company. Crash.net also report that Hamilton is planning further test sessions with Cresent Yamaha at Jerez to maximise his chances of impressing his two-wheeled hero.
