The bike is up for auction with H&H Auctioneers administering the sale. It represents a truly unique opportunity to won a genuine time-warp example of this iconic British motorcycles.
The bike was shipped from England to Belgium in 1977, sitting untouched and un-ridden before being moved on to Holland and then Spain, passing through three pairs of hands in 43 years. The twist is, none of the owners ever cracked open the crate and put the bike on the road.
The bike is completely as it left the factory, with protective wrapping covering things like the exhaust, and even still has stickers over the speedo and tacho to protect the glass. The bike even comes complete with all the documents and handbooks sold with the bike when is was new – all of which are in perfect condition.
Mark Bryan, Head of Motorcycles at H&H Classics, says:
“Every now and again one of these remarkable things appear in the collecting world. This particular instance is quite amazing. How on earth has everybody over 43 years managed to restrain themselves and not un-crate this bike?”
The bike is going under the hammer on November 14th at the National Motorcycle Museum. The bike is estimated to sell for £20,000 to £30,000.
