Ultimate Aprilia Tuono X gets extended ‘XXX’ run

The ultra-exclusive Aprilia Tuono X makes so much of an impression the Italian firm has agreed to extend the production run of the ultimate track day toy

Aprilia Tuono X

Having set out to raise the benchmark for pure thoroughbred Hyper Nakeds motorcycling with the launch of the meticulously honed and very exclusive Aprilia Tuono X just over a week ago, the Italian firm has announced it will break with tradition by extending its production run to 30.

Following on from last year’s similarly track-focused Aprilia RSV4 variant, ‘X’ marked the spot with only ten being produced for a lucky few who could pick up the phone and get their credit cards out fast enough.

Indeed, by the time Aprilia MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaro had completed his laps of Mugello and waxed lyrical about its abilities, the Aprilia Tuono X was already sold out… and we assume the Spaniard is probably one of those on the list.

However, it seems Aprilia just couldn’t say no to some buyers after confirming it will build 30 versions in total now, so we’re now just going to have to refer to the machine as the Aprilia Tuono XXX’ (giggity).

While the Aprilia RS-GP isn’t setting the world alight on the MotoGP track, the Tuono X has been endowed with some of the finest new technology to trickle down from the premier series, while its strict diet has trimmed it to a feathery 166kg (dry).

Making the most of that grunty V4 engine, the Aprilia Tuono X even lapped Imola recently just three seconds slower than a fully-fledged WorldSBK machine. It has certainly made a fan in Espargaro, who gave it possibly the most charmingly unusual description we have ever come across.

“You can drive it cleanly, but you can also put it sideways… she is a pure sportswoman with a thug side!”
