SEAT, one of the Europe’s largest car manufacturers, has revealed the production version of its first-ever entry into the two-wheel market, the SEAT MO eScooter 125.

The Spanish company, part of the vast Volkswagen-helmed VAG family of companies, announced late last year that it would move into the burgeoning urban mobility sector with both the eKickScooter and the then-unnamed eScooter concept.

Several months on and SEAT has revealed the machine in its final form, though it appears the front and back-ends have lost some of the concept’s charm in making it to the final model.

Indeed, while the concept had a distinctive low-set front-end with sharp detailing and a theme of triangles for the front and rear headlamps, SEAT has flipped this with a much taller front fascia, now a more familiar circular headlight and a more angular finish.

Nevertheless, by being closely associated with a major manufacturer, the SEAT MO eScooter 125 represents an intriguing owning prospect with plenty of availability, particularly in its home nation of Spain where it dominates the car sales charts.

With a 9kW motor and 5.6kW battery, the MO gets all the way to 95km/h and hit 50km/h in 3.8secs, while it is claiming it will only need charging once a week based on typical usage levels. The battery can be taken out and charged separately from the scooter to ease any worries of parking somewhere with a free charging station.

SEAT has also launched Motosharing to capitalise on the growing trend of easy bike/car rental. Interestingly, the MO used for that campaign gets its own front-end look and colour scheme.
