Harley-Davidson push back new model plans

After rewiring the ‘More Roads’ program, some Harley-Davidson new model launches are pushed back

AFTER the new Harley-Davidson CEO, Jochen Zeitz, took the helm of the company back in February, one of the first things to get a going over was the Harley-Davidson sales strategy.

The More Roads to Harley idea was one penned by the former CEO Matt Levatich, and featured ambitious plans like more electric models, adventure bikes, nakeds and of course cruiser in the coming years.

The idea was simple, to overturn the company’s ailing sale figures by bringing new blood to the brand through a series of all new and models and motorcycle styles.

The plan didn’t sit well with the new CEO though, and one of the first things Zeitz did when taking the top job was to rewire the strategy.

The Harley-Davidson Bronx naked motorcycle

While some of Harley’s future projects have been shelved indefinitely, two, that we assume are too far along to simply cancel are the Bronx naked bike and the Pan America adventure machine. Instead, these machine’s launches have been pushed back slightly, from the end of 2020 to 2021.

No doubt affecting the decision is the global COVID-19 pandemic, which has closed most global manufacturing and technical facilities, effectively ending those bike’s development.

Aside from those bikes, the Harley site also confirms that their water-cooled cruiser, as yet unnamed, does still sit as a ‘future model’, although a launch date is not set. The same goes for Harley electric bicycles or e-bikes the previous CEO had pushed so hard to have built.
