Kawasaki reveal 2019 Ninja and Z125 models

KAWASAKI has revealed its two new learner legal motorcycles for 2019, almost a year after announcing the models at EICMA 2017.

The Japanese manufacturer is joining its counterparts in providing two sporty 125s with looks heavily inspired by its larger ‘Sugomi’-styled performance models. The Ninja 125 or Z125 share a single-cylinder, water-cooled engine making 14.8hp, with a typical Kawasaki high revving top end. These units are housed in a sleek tubular trellis frame, similar to that of the supercharged H2.

While the Z125 boasts the aggressive naked looks for which the Z brand is known, the Ninja boasts a sleek silhouette and graphics inspired by Jonathan Rea’s three-time WorldSBK winning Ninja ZX-10RR. According to research conducted by Kawasaki, design and styling were the top priority with potential owners, and so these two stylish sportsbikes are likely to go down a treat.

Both boast a larger road presence that your typical 125, but combine that with low, accessible seat heights – the Z is at 815mm, while the Ninja’s seat sits at 785 mm.

They will present a worthy competition to Suzuki’s GSX-R125 and GSX-S125 models and Honda’s CBR125R and CB125R models, not to mention the countless Chinese copies.

Kawasaki will release full information at Germany’s Intermot Show in Cologne on October 2nd.
