MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro builds begin

MV Agusta has begun the production of the firms most powerful naked motorcycle this week as the 212hp naked motorcycle begins to take shape

MV AGUSTA has begun the initial build of the first 300 bikes that it claims will be the fastest naked motorcycle ever produced, the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro.

The post shows several pictures of engineers at the Varese factory piecing together the pre-production examples of the 1000cc inline four machine, with deliveries of the limited-edition model due to take place in October this year.

MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro mixes up the know-how of the Italian marque, utilising the firm’s well-used (and well-tuned) engine from the F4 superbike and slots it into a frame that looks similar to the other Brutale machines, but is likely to be heavily re-worked beneath the skin to deal with the rigours of delivering 200+hp to the road.

MV claims the bike will be capable of 180mph+ and, when fitted with the optional race-kit exhaust, pushing out a mammoth 212hp at 13,450rpm. Those figures do make the Serie Oro the most powerful naked motorcycle we’ve seen so far, eclipsing the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 (175bhp) and KTM’s 1290 Super Duke R (177bhp) in the process.

Keeping the power in check, the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro uses top-spec Öhlins electronic suspension front and rear and Brembo Stylema calipers bite down on 320mm floating discs. Working with the brakes, suspension and the traction control (quite often the TC actually) is a Bosch controlled IMU cornering ABS and traction control system, which is said to be backed up with the knowledge gained from MV’s WSBK exploits. The bike includes 8-level traction control, anti-wheelie (we’ll be needing that!), launch control and an up and down quickshifter.

MV Agusta’s Technical Director, Brian Gillen, has been sharing some of the insights and testing of the machine on his own Instagram profile, including this clip (above) of the launch control being tested on the banks of Lake Varese behind the MV factory!
